Personal Work, 2018
This watercolor and gouache painting was inspired by a welcoming and charming cottage. I worked in layers of watercolor first before I started adding in gouache. I added different splotches of texture to imply leaves, flowers and dirt. The texture was the main focal point of a piece because there were different areas such as wood grain, roofing shingles, and plants. The color and line work emphasized different areas of contrast within the cottage. Creating this piece was fun and informative because I was able to learn different texturing techniques with sponges, dry/wet brushes, and different strokes.
